Yes, I believe legalization will have a significant impact on medical cannabis. Your wife provides a fairly "normal" example of someone who won't want to bother with prescriptions when they don't need one to buy weed...or to grow it.

There has already been push back from the federal government on the homegrown issue. They deleted that amendment. We'll see if that causes any issues with passing the bill (it has to go back to the Senate again after the government amends the bill).

Haha, I remember back in the '80s when I thought legalization was inevitable in the USA. 35 years later, I walked into an Oregon pot store and saw legally-for-sale-to-the-public marijuana for the first time in my life. Long overdue.

I think the number of patients who junk their prescriptions and just buy legal weed will be significant, but it will be dwarfed by the influx of non-medical customers who flood into stores to buy weed. Within a couple years, the customer base will be pretty well established (medical vs. non-medical). But Canopy's growth will continue long after Canada's market stabilizes.
