Melting Pennies - Not So Fast

Think of the labor, transportation, energy (natural gas to melt), seperating copper from zinc, collection process.

I hear this story in a lot of places. The price of metal would have to be much higher. Then there is the fact that defacing U.S. Currency is illegal, so you would have to add potential jail time to business risk.

Sounds silly to me.
