You can leave an accounting firm for any reason you want.

NOTHING holds you to your accounting firm. BUT having been there, the cost & anguish involved with leaving your accountant is considerable. You don't just up and leave, especially in the public domain. Leaving for amicable reasons is planned out well ahead of the split and typical expanded upon to insure street understands the move. There is always a reason for a move and yes - it does happen -but a common reason is your accountant is more conservative on an issue than you may like.
