people with lower cost entry points selling to people creating a group with a higher cost entry point.

The people with new higher cost entry points then hold waiting for profit, thus locking down the shares for a period and driving supply down. So as long as demand still exists, this then drives up the price.

so yes, consolidation is usually a good thing.
