Loyal, I'm not sure people are having shotgun weddings anymore, sounds a little dated. Divorce is stressful but if it's not working for you, it really is okay to leave.
Nowadays, people are more accepting of all kinds of situations and if you're resisting any societal pressures that do exist, it's perfectly fine to do so. It's okay to leave, she'll be fine and I highly doubt she would want someone who consciously does not think of others' feelings to stay.
Some couples work through difficult patches, others may walk away.
Do what's best for you and let's all try a little harder to choose our words more carefully, less lazily and consider others' feelings along the way. We're in this together.
