Look at the date of the PR.  Yes the reverse split AND symbol change occurred long after that PR.  However the PR was made a week or two after the RS was announced and if you remember was in reaction to the fall out from the RS being announced.  If you look at the tone it is defensive for this very reason.  Every RS and Forward split I have been through this past year has been forced to change it's symbol  as part of the RS or FS.  The PR even states that there will not be ANOTHER RS.  In other words it was all directed towards what would not happen AFTER the RS.  Don't forget that in the context we all believed the RS would occur in just a few days.  It was not expected that it would not occur for several months.  Everything must be looked at in the context of the time that it occurred and the information available at that time.  It was expected the RS would occur the next few days and these facts of what would not occur would be for the following year after that.

Also don't forget that you are looking at things through the filter of the constant bashing that has occured on here for months as a result of anger over the RS being announced in the first place.
