Yes, that would be true if current management had filed a Ch.11. Then they would be opting to reorganize, and would be given the chance to do so.

But when they file a 7, they have ipso facto removed themselves from the reorganization process.

This is just my understanding, based on what I've been told by others who are closer to the action. I don't have the skills or the time to do the research myself.
