Yes exactly.
Imagine trying to get heavy tar-like oil to flow unless you "thin it", let alone pump it out of the ground.
So again, my understanding is that you gotta grease those Venezuelan wheels or they don't even turn - so to speak.
Follow the trials and tribulations of the world and compare to maps of where all the light-sweet is... ( perhaps to include the knowledge of planned or in progress build-out of pipelines associated with those places )
The lite sweet of Saudi Arabia is closer to... Yemen...
We have a lot here, but, for anyone to buy it from us, you see, they have to agree to things, minor things, human rights, etc., no big deal... (arm twist)
So my estimate of what drives SDLP are those that need light sweet, don't have it, and need an alternative to buy from U.S.A.
Another factor is volume vs. price. Saudi Arabia wrecked themselves recently doing that in an effort to force many U.S. businesses out of business... and failed. So, see Malaysia and their most excellent light sweet vs. its high price vs. diminishing demand because the price is so high. ( I believe we have a drill there as we speak, more volume )
Anyway I am running amok. Point is, heavy crude needs grease.
