SRMX Tri Cascade has upgraded its Smart Thermostat "ThermoRing" to Narrowband (NB IoT) Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat with Edge Computing Capability.

Upgraded ThermoRing:

Old Model ThermoRing:

What's the big deal with this Narrowband (NB-IoT)? It's big. Tri Cascade released this u-blox NB-IoT collaboration news on March 1, 2018:

https://globenewswire.com/news-release/2018/05/01/1494085/0/en/Tri-Cascade-to-Expand-Global-Footprint-in-NB-IoT-Smart-Neighborhood-Technology-with-u-blox-Collaboration.html

"“u-blox is at the forefront of NB-IoT and LTE Cat M1 technology development and delivery, making them the perfect partner to help bring Tri Cascade’s groundbreaking smart neighborhood products to market,” said Max Li, president and CEO of Tri Cascade." "With the integration of u-blox’s latest NB-IoT modules into their products, Tri Cascade will take a significant step toward the company’s vision of developing the smart neighborhood through energy efficient low-power solutions."

And this is it. This brand new model of ThermoRing is one of the collaboration products with u-blox!

Next, why NB-IoT?

AT&T currently is sticking with LTE-M (also known as LTE CAT-M), but plans to keep an eye on narrowband-LTE. Tri Cascade collaboration also includes LTE Cat M1 modules. "Utilizing the broad portfolio of u-blox 4G products, including Narrowband (NB-IoT) and LTE Cat M1 modules, Tri Cascade will deliver next generation energy efficient smart neighborhood products and solutions to global customers."

This brand new model of ThermoRing also comes with Edge Computing Capability.

What's the big deal of Edge Computing? Very Big.

ThermoRing also integrates with Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant. Other than supporting Amazon Alexa, ThermoRing also synchronize with other Tri Cascade IoT devices such as Smart Wall Plug’s temperature sensor as the second source in house temperature and power consumption metering for your HVAC system.

So, it is compatible with Alexa. I think conEdison should update their product information on their website, which currently says ThermoRing is not compatible with smart hub. It must be the old model when they listed it.

Tri Cascade also has upgraded Smart Dimmer/Light Switch. Now it can be voice controlled and is compatible with Alexa. conEdison should update their website with this information too.

Upgraded Smart Dimmer:

Old model Smart Dimmer was not voice controlled:

Tri Cascade has also added a new product: i-Bright Air (Indoor)

Tri Cascade also updated its website on May 16, 2018 to include all these new great products. I was able to find old product pages through Google Search Cached View. Here are screenshots before and after website updates:

Lastly, it's very important to take another look at Tri Cascade's "Mission and Vision":

http://skiqnow.com/mission-and-vision/

Pay attention to the last two sentences: "Our goal is to bring energy management into Home Automation and focus on eco-solutions instead of products. We do not focus on products, we create solutions." In other words, this means Tri Cascade was created and built just for one goal. Sell the technology and get acquired. That is what will happen very soon. Tri Cascade will be acquired, at a very good price.
