The key I see you elucidated is that when things do NOT workout as you have planned, you have done sufficient study of the company that waiting, though possibly inconvenient, doesn't lack remuneration.

If you own a stable well run company the schedule is always unpredictable, but quality always shows in the end. I have needed & learned a lesson in humility.
I came in for capital appreciation, but am happy now to respect and welcome the income.
