ADTM doing buybacks for the near term is good imo. But as for your question.... Depends on the reasoning behind the buyback. If I was CEO and felt that my shares were undervalued, it may be beneficial to just go ahead and let the price tank and buyback shares as inexpensive as possible. The resulting buyback could increase shareholder confidence, and help the EPS ratio.... but I could also buy them while they are cheap, boost shareholder confidence and EPS, and hold onto them until the time when the companys revenue is much higher to send back to the market in order to gain more capital at a later point.
