Fortunately for shareholders, Shannon seems to be a science geek who is not motivated by money. I'm sure he lives comfortably off his pension. Doesn't seem like the type of guy who blows his money on fast cars and faster women. Seems to have a conscience, so I'd bet he would toss a bone to shareholders if he has any say.
