It is just the first step (possibly several) to getting the patent in an allowable state. The initial submission is normally written to take as much liberty as possible expecting that there will be some back-and-forth before the final patent content is finalized. Nothing to be worried about. Just the way it works.

what is your interpretation of the “non-final rejection” for the two applications you mention. Is that standard and to be expected at this stage of the process pending Sigma’s response?
