The old rich white guys always slam what is new. TELEVISION was supposed to fail. The internet was a "FAD". The "Horseless carriage" was thought be be absurd. Bitcoin is no more of a scam than the current american dollar. If you already have some crypto just HODL! BTCS is prob not the best play, but a small holding cant hurt. Its a shell in the crypto/blockchain space. Might not do anything. Might accept a company inside it and go nuts. Lots of shares tho, so maybe not huge share price. But if it gets .50-1.00 sometime its a big win.
