The value of BRK's many private holdings, such as Sees Candies, are carried at depreciated cost which is surely far below what they could be sold for.

I've often said that among our local penny idiots, Buffett is almost universally hated. Some dislike him for his liberal politics, but he isn't very political. Almost no one here knows that Buffett's father was a Republican Congressman.

But mostly they hate him because he makes money with quality blue chips, not crap shoots. Buffett doesn't use silly charts, act on whims and hunches, and He Actually Reads Financials. He's the exact opposite of most IHUBers.
