I certainly hope not. That's very poor personal finance management, regardless of what stock, fund or other investment vehicle.

...elderly and US Veterans who trusted him and invested much of their retirement savings....

"It is easier to fool someone, than to convince them they have been fooled."

For those that don't get it, it means that people need to be more careful, and do good due diligence.
