why would a DTC exec be concerned enough about potential huge legal bills and jury awards with little ol' delisted near-worthless BCIT?



They're not all that worried about payouts but weird things can happen in court.

Legal bills can reach a point where it's just easier to settle.

Like Ameritrade could have given out 8.5 cents per share just in the amount they have spent fighting arbitration cases.
