North Korea will shut down its nuclear test site in May, and will invite outside experts and journalists into the country in order to ensure transparency.

South Korea’s presidential office made the announcement on Sunday, saying it will invite experts from the U.S. and South Korea.

Kim Jong Un confirmed the report to South Korean President Moon Jae-in during the landmark summit at the DMZ on Friday.

The North Korean leader reportedly added, he had no intention of targeting the U.S. or South Korea with nuclear weapons and no longer has a reason to possess them.

President Trump reiterated the importance of his maximum pressure campaign during his rally in Michigan on Saturday.

The North Korean leader also refuted claims by Chinese scientists earlier in the week. The scientists said that parts of the site had been so badly damaged by previous explosions that it may now be unusable.

He said experts will be able to access the facility to ensure it is properly deactivated.

Meanwhile, South Korea says the declaration to end the Korean War is only the first step toward peace on the Korean peninsula.

At a cabinet meeting Monday, South Korean President Moon Jae-in announced he will take follow-up measures on the joint agreement with Kim Jong Un.

He said the international community supports last week’s peace summit, adding, he wants to make this an “irreversible historical moment.”

Moon’s comments come amid reports he suggested President Trump receive the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to restore peace between North and South Korea.
