I first learned of MannKind though a friend who described an amazing product an insulin that could be breathed and not have to be shot through a needle. I could buy in early and then would just have to wait for the testing and FDA approvals, I would make a fortune! I couldn’t buy their stock quickly enough. You can imagine my disappointment when the approvals came and went and Mannkind’s stock just continued down and down further until I sold my shares in disbelief.

Then a year ago as fate would have it my son became very ill, was admitted to a hospital and diagnosed with type one diabetes. We knew of Afrezza but all of his doctors told my son "no that it was too risky and may not work or could cause him harm." After searching we found a doctor in Tampa 50 miles away that would prescribe it to my son at his request. Not only did it work but it stabilized his sugar swings together with a Dexcom he had it totally in control.

Then Blue Cross of Florida denied his coverage of Afrezza, twice. I could see his fear at the idea of returning to all the belly shots and finger pricks, despair and hopelessness set in quickly. I was very worried at my son’s depression, then someone at Afrezza made a phone call and convinced his insurance to pay for my son’s treatment. I can’t imagine that their employees have enough hours in the day to call on behalf of each customer in trouble, but they did and for that kindness I will forever be grateful.

I truly hope that not all your shareholders are as greedy and shortsighted as I have been. That the success or failure of your company may not always be measured by the profits it makes, but sometimes by the good that comes from your days work, and the lives that you effect for the better,

Thank you so very much!
