There are many types patents -- software, mechanical, electrical, chemical, pharmaceutical, plant, business method, and so on. And Worlds' patents would fall under the software and/or business method category.

Mayer certainly exhibits a strong philosophy that seem anti-software patents, but I'm not sure about his philosophy or records on all other types of patents. Without act of congress or SCOTUS new guideline, no one can tell Mayer's to change his philosophy or to keep an open mind on software patent under the current Alice/101 legal doctrine or statute.
