Stock price is a perception (psychological), not a prediction. The amount of fear depends on your perception of the SP.

If the SP is a prediction, Pharmacyclics being acquired for $261 would never happen when the SP was 50 cents.

FUD - Fear, uncertainty and doubt, is generally a strategic attempt to influence perception by disseminating negative and dubious or false information.
