The problem for Daniel is that he is taking a high salary for a company with no revenues, taking a raise of over 10% while at the same time taking on toxic debt to pay himself this salary and raise. the toxic debt is depressing stock price, causing massive dilution for the purpose of his life style. Without the toxic debt piece, I could accept your argument, but he is running the substantial risk of destroying the company for the purpose of paying his excessive salary and his raise.
