Yes, the urbanization of the American landscape has destroyed local farming, thus making the trip from farm to table that much longer.

Also, refrigeration and freezers have made a difference.

The Nasdaq's third tier, the AMEX can be just as bad, and last but not least, the OTC, it seems, are financial venues that reward failure.
