You may be right from a cost, maintenance, generated revenue business perspective, getting rid of the network may end up being a good thing. It was however a “perceived” asset to the company with significant value and opportunity for expansion. So if the CEO simply presented the case to shareholders and explained future direction for the company, I don’t think the PPS would be suffering so much. If court case is behind us, and the end result is good for the bottom line, the PPS would be going in the opposite direction. But any public company requires some level of being proactive and getting info out to the investors. Without adequate information to form opinions and make decisions, no smart investor is going to put up serious money to invest long term.
