The best explanation I have read about the daily short volume was from Big bake.
Any trade that involves 2 brokers is marked short on the daily because those trades have 2 legs, one broker to the other and are not reconciled
instantly.
Any trade from a buyer and seller using the same broker is not marked short
because it is reconciled instantly.
I think I explained that right.
