In 1975, Dr. Jhin was appointed by President Gerald Ford to the National Advisory Council on
Adult Education;
In 1986 Dr. Jhin worked closely with the Reagan Administration to successfully pave the way
for Asian Americans to serve as overseers of the Civil Rights Commission and Equal
Employment Opportunity Commission.
In 1989, Dr. Jhin was appointed by President George H. Bush as the Executive Assistant to
the Secretary of Veterans Affairs;
In 2002, Dr. Jhin was appointed by President George W. Bush as Director of the Peace Corps’ Special Initiatives.
