Everybody knows that there’s a buyer for every share sold and vice versa.
However, when a transaction takes place on the ASK, its recorded as a BUY and when the transaction is at the BID it’s recorded as a SELL.
if the spread is .10 - .25 and 10 shares go through at .25 and a few seconds later, 3 shares go through at .03 then there are more BUYS than SELLS.
Transactions in the ASK are BULLISH and transactions in the BID are BEARISH.
