Trader, most of the time, you will get filled at the ask, even if you bid above, but there are occasions when the mm will spike the price and fill you at your inflated ask, especially if the order is large and the stock is thinly traded. Same on the downside. A large order gets fat fingered. The mm will dip down and grab that order and bring the bid right back to where it was.
