It is also interesting to note that the Chilean comptroller has still not signed the Corfo/SQM agreement (see last paragraph) which would ultimately command SQM to sell 25% of its lithium to Fulin/Posco-Samsung. Speedy Baldo met with the Chinese ambassador and told him that the Chinese are welcome to invest in Chile... but I wonder if he also told him in hushed muted backroom meetings "but it's just that investing specifically in a 32% share of SQM is going to very politically incorrect for players (eg El Wall Streeto) much bigger than us mere mortals here in Chile"? I wonder if an alternative perhaps more palatable plan from the Pinera-Prokurica machine was presented/suggested to the Chinese ambassador?
