There's an aspect of this unfolding scenario which I haven't seen anyone bring up. What if the U. S. launched missiles into Syria, and the Russian anti-missile defenses shot them all down? What might that do for U.S. hegemony, and our prestige around the world? Might that embolden the Chinese and Iran [who can/do purchase Russian missile defense systems]? Would it be worth an airstrike to find out? I think not . . .
