Also about that same time (20+ years ago) a young engineer for H-D by the name of Erik Buell reshaped that company from his small detached office into winning the Daytona competitive MC series with the Buell 1125R.
Two years into winning races and putting H-D in the winners circle against Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki and others..... Buell was sacked for a 125 million dollars write off against the motor company's errant financial lending arm's fiducial failures. They could not bring themselves to be successful in the sport bike market with Erik taking increasing limelight.
Read up a bit more about how H-D treats inside and outside developments that do not make the family egos soar.
What the motor company did to GS's engine was criminal. GC was correct in never having dealings with them.
I have great respect for H-D and have&ride the wheels off my Buells. Some folks can make it so that good companies fail to advance good technologies in exchange for golden parachutes and not upsetting the status quo. Too bad for H-D, Buell and George Coates.
As far as I am concerned, GC and GC are keeping their PR mouth shut tight and much to your chagrin.
I am loving it because it is now extremely serious work going on and it is not for general disemination until he wants it out.
So suck it up or run away IMO.
