Not just the rivers, John. A portion of Manila Bay is a raw and municipal dump. The daily convoy of garbage trucks, about 600 per day, literally dump into the bay. When enough has been dumped to come above the water line, it is compacted, more trash is dumped on top, compacted again, and when there is enough, no cost housing is built on top of it.

I have been there three times in the last eighteen months and have witnessed this mess with my own eyes. This, mind you, is only one site. My partners and I visited four such areas inland. Open air dumps! No controls whatsoever. And what makes matters worse, hundreds, if not thousands of people work the land fills. Their take is $1-$2 per day from the rumaging of recyclable items such as metals, glass, plastics, wood, and paper. All are barefoot. Children as young as four are working these dumps. Absolutely tears my heart out everytime I see it.

We are able to take care of all their problems, and more importantly, can give them almost 100% waste management. This is only one of more than 50 projects that we are working on.

IHDR will fit right in there, as well as any other place in the world! I can't wait until Tuesday and Wednesday!!

Hey, am I pumping here? I hope not. I don't like labels! LOL
