The value of a stock is also determined by future expectations. If the value of a product moves up, the value of companies that are expected to produce that product in the near future, also increases, because it might be expected the revenue will be higher too.
Look at what happen to companies that announce to adapt Blockchain. These companies often move up. Is it because of money they own on the spot by using Blockchain? No, its because of what they might make in the future.
