Surprisingly, the free Microsoft Security Essentials is excellent.

It's called 'Defender' again on Win10 I think. Most of those third party ones are real resource hogs, like you said.
Sam, consider uninstalling AVG and Malwarebytes and just try the MSE / Defender which comes with Windows. Plus any ad blockers you might like :)
