Greg Morris talks about EBM vs. Laser during part of the Q&A at the very end. Listen to what Morris says at 29:20. Mind you that this video was recorded at the TCT Show in 2013. The Arcam Q10 and Q20 had just been released (http://www.arcam.com/company/about-arcam/history/). On May 9, 2016, Arcam released the Q10plus and the Q20plus, "a significantly enhanced generation of the Arcam Q-series EBM systems for Additive Manufacturing."
The Arcam Qplus-series introduces important features facilitating efficient manufacturing;
- Arcam xQam™ – an innovative X-ray based detection system for automatic calibration and improved beam control.
- EBM Control 5.0 – an all new software platform adding functionality for more efficient and accurate beam control as well as new melt strategies, improving build speed and precision.
- New electronics – bringing more efficient and accurate beam control.
Arcam Qplus offers up to 25% higher productivity with significantly improved surface finish and precision.

120 days after the Qplus series is released, GE "announced a public cash offer to the shareholders of Arcam to tender all ordinary shares (the “Shares”) for a consideration consisting of SEK 285 in cash per Share (the “Offer”), which corresponds to a total Offer value of SEK 5,855,776,725[1]."
