Most gaps are uneventful and gaps don't always fill right away. Sometimes they can take days, weeks or months to fill if at all. One can potentially miss out on a major run by waiting for gaps to fill, hense the term breakaway or runaway gaps. Look at most penny stock charts and you'll see gaps everywhere. That means very little other than it being a break between prices on a chart when a stock makes a sharp move up or down with little to no trading in between.
