He needs to be a public company again for the really big score; he's already taken the local politicians bootstrapping Sandstone. Not much $$$ left in that well.

Penny stocks provide the really frothy money.

If he's smart, he'll stay far way from TRTN/JBII/PTOI. Successful grift; done deal. Rubes fleeced. Luxury SUVs and trashy Motel acquired.

However, he has a huge ego. The opportunity to squeeze the same group of rubes for their retirement savings has to raise his interest.
