Document Security Solutions (NYSEMKT:DSS) shares closed today up 43% after a U.S. Court of Appeals ruled in the company’s favor in a patent infringement fight with Apple.

The court reversed a prior decision by the Patent Trial and Appeal Board that found DSS-owned patents “unpatentable as obvious.”

Key quote from the court decision: “Because we find that the Board did not provide a sufficient explanation for its conclusions, and because we cannot glean any such explanation from the record, we reverse.”
