"Money for “clean” coal: The spending bill includes $727 Million for “clean coal” technology development including investing in technology to capture carbon dioxide from coal burning and use it to improve oil production. In his State of the Union address in January, President Donald Trump said his administration has “ended the war on beautiful, clean coal,” a policy point Trump ran on during the 2016 presidential campaign. Environmentalists have long pushed back that coal can be “clean” as it is one of the top air pollution contributors. They argue that phasing out the fossil fuel is important to stopping climate change."
