Regarding CYDY: "exception to the rule" in RS

My Latin is a bit rusty but the phrase comes from, "exceptio probat regulam".

It has a long history , over 2,000 years only phrases that prove 'truthful' over the years stand the testtof time.

For example, I go to a big store and a sign says"delivery charges for pianos" I assume that every other time there are not delivery charges.

Pianos are the exception that proves the rule , the rule being all items are delivered 'free' except pianos.

So when a compatriot, in his argument for R/S in CYDY, showed me an example of an Reverse Split being successful, when the large majority of them are not, it proves, accentuates the rule: most reverse splits are not successful.

I don't think the phrase is 'asinine' whatsoever; for me it is a rather useful phrase
