Agreed, BTC will NOT be THE currency of the future. Besides the time and expense of mining, the capped supply would cause de-stabilizing deflation - and then undermine either free international capital flows or sovereign monetary policy, see: the "Impossible Trinity". It would be akin to the rigid gold standard that contributed to the Great Depression - but even worse since new gold deposits were discovered during the interregnum period.

BTC will be huge - it may be THE currency for high-level financial transactions. But, more likely, it will be one of a few cryptos that are used to supplement financial transactions, while maintaining domestic currencies and policies.
