"Getting Grace" Marketability

Of course, every filmmaker has to try to make a movie that people will want to pay to see. Star power can help elevate the success of a faith-based movie at the box office, said Jeffrey Totey, a Seattle arts and entertainment writer whose focus is on pop culture, often with a Christian perspective.

Good examples: “Miracles from Heaven,” the 2016 film starring Jennifer Garner, which grossed $61.7 million in the U.S., and “The Passion of the Christ,” Mel Gibson’s 2004 movie that is still the highest-grossing R-rated film.

Smaller, faith-based movies have found an easier time reaching wider audiences with the advent of streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu as well as on-demand video, Totey said.

There’s definitely a strong, growing audience for films that inspire, uplift and share a message of faith, Totey said. Trouble is, many Christian and faith-based films focus first on the message, then the story, which is a bit like “preaching to the choir.” A good faith-based movie will do well if it’s first a good movie.

“Movies should be entertaining,” Totey said. “If you get a message at the same time, that’s great.”

"Getting Grace" director claims a personal, long-standing working relationship with HHSE CEO Parkinson &, according to this excerpt, is seeking to make HISTORY here:

''As a filmmaker, who has spent the last nine years bringing our 'Grace' to an audience, I am thrilled to be teaming with Hannover House and my long-time friend, Eric Parkinson,'' Roebuck recently commented from his Los Angeles home. ''Together we are hoping to make history with our extraordinary and unique approach to building audience interest for this film that has, so far, touched people of all ages and all faiths. We can't wait to share Grace with the rest of world!''

Which bodes well for FUTURE PROJECTS already in the works:

Roebuck’s next planned film, “The Hail Mary,” will focus on an all-boys Catholic school led by a cantankerous sister of St. Joseph, a Catholic religious order of women that numbers 7,000 in the United States. He’s planning to start filming this summer in the Lehigh Valley.

In the film, the sister meets a man who needs one more shot at redemption, so she cons him into creating a football team at her school, which is for boys with behavioral issues.

“It’s a redemption movie, which will be about finding the path toward understanding that we can’t do anything alone,” Roebuck said. “We all need some help from a greater force.”

His third film will also deal with faith and be set in the ’50s. “Imagine a summer version of ‘A Christmas Story,’” Roebuck said.
