What I believe happens here is they don't have their IT so they outsource that work, even though it isn't hard to do, it is not what they do (IT). They may craft an Email to Smurlik, which then does it at his free time or contacts someone who did their site originally, or someone that is completely new, who then needs to ramp up on layout of the site's source. Then that someone says he's busy and will get around to it when he gets around to it, or many other possible scenarios that did come up in my lifetime which are not at all bad.

I'd love to see a professionally designed site like many companies in our industry have, but this may not be their primary focus if they have things already lined up, thus nice site will eventually come; but as I said in the other post, the update is being done very noobish like.

I wouldn't be swayed by the look of the site as the company is busy with science and things as stated by them are already lined up, site is getting a small facelift which is refreshing, we have more qualified Scientists on board so when money starts flowing I'm sure the site will be stellar.
