Regarding Lucky Friday....Sometimes when mines such as this have contract talks the company looks forward to a strike. Why? While the workers are out on strike, the company can invest heavily in mine development which may be in the way of regular miners, the type of which can be done by other contractors. If this happens, then the company is pleased to let the workers stay on strike while this development work is being completed. Any why not? Sometimes this development work can be done better and less expensive than with the regular mining crew. So what is the probability that this is ongoing at Lucky Friday, or do some already know?

If this is happening, it may happen with the cooperation of the union bosses. Furthermore, they all, in light of this, are just not ready to settle.

I am not sure how such a scenario is helpful to the local miners, but it may be beneficial to the shareholders.
