THE PERFECT STORM - THE OPIOID DEATH RATE vs MMJ
Consider:
In states with medical-marijuana use, there has been 24.8 percent lower annual state-level opioid overdose mortality rate, according to a 2014 study published in JAMA Internal Medicine. And there is an approximately 60 percent chance that a patient, while on medical marijuana, can decrease the effective dose of opioids or even discontinue them.
A recent 2017 survey of patients on medical cannabis in Canada showed that of the 608 opioid medications, patients were able to stop use of 59.6 percent completely and reduce use of 18.4 percent by at least 75 percent.
When using medical marijuana with opioids, there is a synergistic and additive effect, allowing for a lower effective opioid dose and, therefore, fewer potential side effects and risks from opioids.
In addition to pain relief, medical marijuana provides relief to the common conditions associated with chronic pain, such as anxiety/depression and insomnia. With medical marijuana, the pharmacological management for chronic pain can be simplified with lesser need to also prescribe medications for anxiety, depression and insomnia.
The addictive effect of marijuana is slight, and there is no risk of death with marijuana withdrawal. HMPQ "ROCKET TIME"
