It was not a "lie"; it was a plan that didn't work out as JB hoped. No sugar. Just reality. And, you are right: each failure of a plan, like this one, makes it harder to get investors enthused about the next one.

But, consider, there's a big difference between a plan that may well run short of money and a longer range, well funded plan that is assured to get a long way down a productive road. This is probably the kind of plan that's being discussed now.

It's risky to invest in bootstraps that may break before the boot is on. And it was clear from the beginning that raising a small amount of money to start drilling was subject to a lot of risk. I hope JB doesn't have to try something like that again.
