5 Times Trump's Favorite Economic Advisor Has Been Spectacularly Wrong About the Economy

"America, get ready for the 'D' Team that will soon be running Trump's White House"

President Trump plans to name Larry Kudlow as his top economic advisor.

There’s just one problem with that idea: The longtime television personality, who would gain a key role in
shaping U.S. economic policy, has a well-known history of making some shockingly wrong financial predictions.

[...]

What Kudlow said: “There’s no recession coming. The pessimistas were wrong. It’s not going to happen. At a bare minimum,
we are looking at Goldilocks 2.0. (And that’s a minimum). Goldilocks is alive and well. The Bush boom is alive and
well. It’s finishing up its sixth consecutive year with more to come. Yes, it’s still the greatest story never told.”

When he said it: December 2007

What happened next: The global financial crisis, followed by the worst recession since the Great Depression.

Does Donald Trump Really Think the Stock Market Is About to Crash?
Or does he just want to scare you into voting for him?

“I think you are going to see tax reform and corporate tax repatriation much along the lines of what he promised during the campaign and what Republicans in Congress already support,” said Larry Kudlow, an adviser to Trump on economic policy. “And I don’t think you’ll see willy-nilly imposition of trade tariffs but rather a series of renegotiations. You give me a 15 percent business tax rate and good repatriation terms and expensing of new investment and I’ll give you a big jump in economic growth, 4 or 5 percent for the next several years.”
