These enhancements further raise the performance and operational advantages of the JUPITER System, the world's most widely deployed High-Throughput Satellite (HTS) platform which is currently deployed on over 20 satellites across the world and powering a wide range of enterprise and consumer services by leading providers. The new in-route access scheme delivers substantial optimization for transactional messages which results in significantly faster browsing of encrypted web pages, as well as higher efficiency for applications such as automated teller, lottery or point of sale. The JUPITER System mobility feature set is now expanded to support maritime applications in addition to the previously announced aeronautical broadband capabilities. Additional features also include high-speed DVB-S2X return channels.

"These enhancements of our flagship JUPITER System further raise the bar in setting the industry standard for satellite broadband networks," said Dave Rehbehn, vice president of international sales and marketing, Hughes. "They validate our ongoing commitment to an ever-growing family of valued operator customers, ensuring that their investment in Hughes technology will gain them a competitive advantage in their markets today and for years to come."

As part of the Hughes mission to bridge the digital divide, these developments offer more capabilities to new markets across the globe. They build on the award-winning feature set of the JUPITER System, addressing the entire spectrum of community, enterprise, backhaul, aero and maritime capabilities.

Launched in 2012, the JUPITER System continues to be the platform of the future today, and on which Hughes will continue to deliver innovations for current and future HTS satellites, including the previously announced EchoStar XXIV/JUPITER 3 ultra-high density satellite, slated to be launched in 2021.
