Would it be absolutely necessary to use a platform based delivery system to the FPSO's as opposed to linking production lines directly to them? Obviously there would be a separation process prior to onloading crude but could not the FPSO handle that?

I suppose a production platform would be of the floating/tethered type?

Could you point to such an example?
