New Albany's Romeo Langford named finalist for Gatorade Player of the Year

After taking home the Gatorade Indiana Boys Basketball Player of the Year award on Thursday,
New Albany senior Romeo Langford has been named a top-three finalist for Gatorade's National Boys Basketball Player of the Year award.
Langford is joined on the watch list by Florida's R.J. Barrett (Montverde Academy) and Minnesota's Tre Jones (Apple Valley High School).
The state's top recruit, Langford has averaged 35.7 points, 9.6 rebounds and 3.1 steals per game and led his team to a 23-1 record through sectional play.
Langford is currently the No. 4 scorer in Indiana history with 2,900 points, just 234 points behind all-time leader Damon Bailey.
The 6-foot 5-inch, 170-pound guard has also been named a McDonald's All-American.
The award recognizes not only athletic excellence on the court, but also highlights exceptional academic achievement and character on and off the court. All three finalists have GPAs above 3.0 and volunteer within their respective communities.
Langford is a member of the school’s radio and TV club and volunteers at local youth basketball camps and leagues.
